Account Information: When you register for Chaloo, we collect your name, phone number, and email address. We use Firebase Authentication by Google to securely verify your identity via SMS one-time passwords (OTP). Drivers are also required to provide their driving licence details and vehicle information for verification purposes.
Profile Information: Your name, profile photo, and contact details that you provide when setting up your profile.
Ride Information: We collect details about rides you publish or book, including pickup and drop-off locations, travel dates and times, number of seats, pricing, and ride preferences.
Location Data: With your permission, we collect real-time location data to help match riders and drivers, provide navigation, and enable safety features such as ride tracking and emergency SOS.
Payment Information: If you use in-app payments, we collect transaction details. Payment processing is handled by secure third-party providers, and we do not store your full credit card or bank account numbers on our servers.
Device Information: We collect information about the device you use to access the Service, including device model, operating system, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the Service, such as pages visited, features used, search queries, and the dates and times of your visits.
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve the Service. This includes matching drivers with passengers, processing ride bookings and payments, verifying user identities, enabling safety features, sending ride confirmations and updates, and communicating important information about the Service.
We may also use your information to personalise your experience, analyse usage trends to improve the platform, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (our database provider) and Firebase (for authentication). We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration, or destruction. This includes encryption of data in transit, secure storage practices, and regular security assessments. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
With Other Users: When you book or publish a ride, certain information is shared with the other party to facilitate the ride. Drivers can see passenger names and pickup locations. Passengers can see driver names, profile photos, vehicle details, and ratings.
With Service Providers: We share information with trusted third-party providers who help us operate the Service, including Firebase Authentication (Google) for phone number verification, Supabase for secure data storage, payment processors, analytics services, and customer support tools. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and are subject to their respective privacy policies.
For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Chaloo, our users, or the public.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to provide a better browsing experience. The Chaloo mobile application uses similar technologies such as local storage and device identifiers to provide a seamless experience. We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.
